SmartEducator Fair Use Policy
Overview
Each plan has monthly limits, shown on the Pricing page: Create has 50 generations and 90 scripts marked, Mark has 200 generations and 360 scripts marked, and Accelerate has 500 generations and unlimited* scripts marked, subject to this policy. This Fair Use Policy explains what unlimited means and exists to protect the reliability and performance of the platform for all users.
What "Unlimited" Means
Unlimited scripts marked on the Accelerate plan is intended for individual educators using SmartEducator in the course of their normal professional teaching practice. This covers all classes, subjects, and student cohorts managed by a single educator within one institution.
Acceptable Use
- Marking scripts across all your classes and subjects, within your plan's limits
- Running ongoing assessments throughout the academic year, within your plan's limits
- Uploading work for all students within your institution that you personally teach
- Using longitudinal tracking, analytics, and insight features across your full student cohort
Unacceptable Use
The following fall outside fair use and may trigger a review of your account:
- Processing assignments or submissions on behalf of other teachers or institutions under a single account
- Automated, scripted, or bulk uploading of content not related to your own students
- Sharing login credentials with other educators to circumvent individual plan limits
- Using the platform commercially to provide marking services to third parties
- Artificially inflating usage volumes through non-genuine submissions
What Happens if You Exceed Fair Use
SmartEducator will monitor usage patterns. If your usage appears significantly outside the bounds of normal individual teaching practice, we will:
- Contact you directly to understand your usage
- Work with you to find an appropriate solution, such as upgrading to a Schools plan
- Only take further action if the issue cannot be resolved collaboratively
We will never suspend an account without first attempting to make contact.
